Feel Good February!

Feel Good Feb is dedicated to lifting the positive vibe of our world by promoting good deeds and random acts of kindness, especially during the month of February….and beyond!

There has been extensive research to prove that ‘giving out good’ not only benefits the receiver but also increases the happiness of the giver. There’s mental happiness and physical benefits for all involved. It is a win-win situation!

There’s a buzz that comes from doing something nice for another person simply to brighten their day.

Random acts of kindness are not only beneficial for those receiving them – research shows that giving is great for our own mental wellbeing.

While acts of kindness are wonderful every day of the year, Feel Good February is a movement that hopes to get people talking and doing during the love month of February.

Here’s a random list of 10 random acts you could do today share a smile.

10 random acts of kindness

  1. Write and send a card for someone special

Let a loved one know you’re thinking of them by sending them a card and your heartfelt words. You can always brighten someone’s day.

  1. Give a genuine compliment

Compliments are great!  A lovely way to show others that we see their strengths and accomplishments, and that they are valued. If you receive a compliment, try not to deflect it – soak it up!  You are valued too!

  1. Prepare a meal for someone who could use the help

Have a friend who is a new parent? Perhaps a loved one has been unwell, or is going through a tough time at the moment. Homemade meals can be a practical way to help them out and show you care.

  1. Pay it forward during your next coffee run

Ask your local coffee shop if you can pay for a coffee for the next customer. Your act could even encourage that customer to do the same, creating a ripple of kind gestures.

  1. Pick up litter in a park or at the beach

Take your random acts to a community level by collecting litter in a park or beach. You’ll make the space nicer for a whole neighbourhood and help the environment at the same time.

  1. Let someone go in front of you in a queue

Whether you’re stuck in traffic or lining up at the supermarket – letting someone go ahead of you could really make their day.

  1. Do someone else’s chores for them

If a particular chore always falls to your partner, parent, or sibling, do it for them without expecting them to return the favour.

  1. Offer your seat on the bus or train to someone else

Consider whether someone else might need your seat more than you and offer it. Even if the person doesn’t accept, your thoughtfulness will be appreciated.

  1. Take the time to really listen

Ask someone a question about their lives and truly listen to their story. Active listening shows that you value what they have to say, and helps build stronger social connections.

  1. Smile at a stranger

If you make eye contact with a stranger, flash them a genuine smile. They’ll likely smile back, and both of your days will be a little brighter!
